Her Story
From a 12-year-old girl surviving blood cancer to becoming the most recognized Health Entrepreneur, Romita Ghosh’s journey is truly game changer in Indian health industry. Her recent Startup iHeal HealthTech is one of the promising solutions to stem COVID-19 in India. Her creation, UV sterilization cabinet enables personal protective equipment, including masks and other disposables, to be safely reused at 99.9 per cent efficiency.
The best part of her products is the Sustainable medical equipment. The reuse of such items, even after the COVID-19 pandemic subsides, will not only be cost-beneficial for many sectors, especially hospitals, but will also reduce biomedical waste and its consequences.

Her Achievements
Her work in this field has taken her across the mountainous villages of Spiti to the hinterland of Uttar Pradesh. She is a healthcare research fellow at IIT Hyderabad and is being ably support- ed by UN Women, myGov and US Dept of State. The Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, Entrepreneur magazine and HerStory have featured Romita’s work.
Romita won the Most Inspiring Woman Entrepreneur Award at the Orange Flower Awards 2017. She was also awarded HT Woman 2018 by Shri Yogi Adityanath Hon'ble Chief Minister, UP.
Romita was also honoured by eMERG with the Start-up Entrepreneur of the Year Award and also won the Planet’s Pride Award. Her latest foray into design innovation made her one of the 3 winners selected by MyGov, UN Women and EU at the Shri Shakti COVID Challenge.
Besides holding a double major in Biotechnology and Biochemistry and an MBA in Biotechnology Management, Romita is also an alumnus of IIM Udaipur and Welingkar School. She is qualified Tech Entrepreneur from Stanford and is also an accomplished photographer of international repute, having been featured by CNN, ND Awards and Feature Shoot magazine.
Romita has been playing an active role in India’s Start-up Eco-system. She is a National Thought Leader at CIMSME, a Business Mentor at TheGreater50 initiative by FICCI and President of India-Germany WICCI Business Council. Her strong advocacy of STEM Education and gender equality has seen her being invited as a Keynote Speaker/ Panellist at multiple fora nationally and internationally.
As a Woman Change-Maker in South Asia, Women’s empowerment is close to Romita’s heart. She is a signatory of Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and is a member of the Review committee for Her&Now - Empowering Women Entrepreneurs, on behalf of the German Min- istry for Economic Cooperation and Development. As a woman entrepreneur breaking the proverbial glass-ceiling, she has been inspiring women to follow their passion.
