Brief introduction about yourself and tell us something about your innovative startup Wrappd?
Hi, I am Purvi Tantia, co-founder of Wrapp’d – India’s foremost online gift registry. The idea of wrapp’d originated as we experienced that gifting is a beautiful gesture, yet many times the gifts that we get might not really delight us. For example, we might end up getting similar gifts or get colours that we don’t prefer. The user-friendly website www.wrappd.in aims to become the new-age gifting partner by helping people spend money on gifts that are most valued and cherished. Your inclination towards creativity is awe-inspiring.
What ignited the spark in you to give a new dimension to your creativity?
Creativity to me is to identify a problem and create a solution for the same. With Wrapp’d – that’s what we did. The support and confidence shown by friends and family helped further to implement the idea of the gift registry.
Please talk about your journey and future goals.
I have been an enterprenur since the age of 20. I completed my higher education in Australia and on my return started an education consultancy. With my experience of about a decade and networks that I have built across the globe, bringing Wrapp’d to life was a truly rewarding experience. I am geared to make Wrapp’d – one of the most known brands amongst Indian start-ups.
What are your views on the thought, that as compared to male counterparts, it’s harder and more struggling for females to make a mark professionally?
Definitely not. Especially, when your parents are supportive and grow you up as an individual who takes own decisions – there remains similar struggles for males or females to achieve success professionally. Support of friends and family is a necessity for both males and females professional success.
What piece of advice would you like to give to the aspiring youth who wish to pursue their dream of becoming an entrepreneur?
Don’t be afraid of taking risks, but with time to time become competent in taking calculated risks.
According to you, what are the top three essential skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
Independent Thinking; Delegation skills and Networking
How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life? Has the family always been supportive?
I think it is easier for female entrepreneurs to manage family responsibilities. As an entrepreneur, I could evolve the concept of work-life balance to work-life integration. So, I can work on Sundays and take a day off in the week if my family responsibility requires me to do so. If a family sees that you are passionate towards your professional goals, they largely are supportive.
What are your views and opinions towards the ambiguous need to promote women entrepreneurship and women empowerment in India.
I believe women should realize their potential and take the journey on the basis of that. If one has an entrepreneurial spirit within her, pursue it; else there are numerous opportunities in employment where you can grow and make a name for yourself.
