Renowned as the “The Gourmet Queen” Asha Khatau is a prominent figure in the culinary world, an award winning author-chef and a busy home-maker she has carved out a remarkable niche for herself. Her passion for cooking is awe-inspiring & she holds 25 years of expertise in the field. Spreading the magic of her explicit cooking skills she started the journey of EPICURE– an extensive range of cooking classes and publications. Please talk about your passion for food and how it turned into a profession? My Passion for anything I do has been inborn then be it food or anything else. But here due to my family being so interested in gourmet food encouraged me to cook better each time. I kept innovating and trying something new each time. Cooking for friends and family and cooking memorable meals for them prompted me to start my own cooking classes 18 years ago.   What ignited the spark in you to have a start-up of your own? The success of cooking class resulted into writing cookbooks as they were getting very popular so I thought why not share it with larger audience. !!   Goals you still wish to accomplish. I wish to continue creating new recipes and keep with the latest trend. I also wish to have cooking school one day instead of just a class.   What all challenges did you face and how does it feel to be known as the ‘The Gourmet Queen’ now? It has been a tough journey as I had to balance with family duties, taking care of day to day house chores, social commitments and personal care. But hard work has proven to be a key to success. Now it feels it was all worth going through the hurdles.   What's your opinion about whether women can have it all? I believe women are equally strong & go-getters, if they are dedicated to achieve their goal they can have it all.   What piece of advice would you like to give to the aspiring youth who wish to pursue their dream of becoming an entrepreneur? Today's youth has huge platform to pursue and fulfill their dreams. All they must keep in mind is never give up when times get tough instead think and know that when the going gets tough the tough gets going!!!!   Something about Asha ji- The Author. I am delighted to share all my work with people and I know that it will stay with them forever.   Has the family always been supportive all through the journey? Family has not only been supportive but also encouraging, helpful and understanding all through my journey. What are your views and opinions towards the ambiguous need to promote women entrepreneurship and women empowerment in India? I think it’s a great thing to have women entrepreneurs who can lead but they should never misuse the power.
