Brief introduction about yourself and tell us something about Fabulously Desi?
My company “ Fabulously Desi by Richa.S “ was established in August, 2013. We provide authentic hand embroidered clutches and potlis to compliment women's attire. Fabulously Desi is inspired by Mughal grandeurs and twists. They have intricate applique thread work but yet are very striking. The designs are flamboyant and have convoluted detailing and finishing. ?The exclusive work on the products also has embroidery embellished with pearls & precious stones, which makes it classy.

What ignited the spark in you to start Fabulously Desi?
I always had immense love and passion towards “Indian Karigiri”(Workmanship)?. While browsing through magazines for reference I would drool over Indian Lehengha's. While working with leading jewellery designers, it occurred to me that one could use jewellery designing skills to design clutches. Designing is my life & my life is designing!   Something about your journey and future. The journey so far has been beautiful. We thought we would only design clutches but last month we launched our new range of hand woven designer outfits. As for the future, Fabulously Desi is only retailing in India, we plan to go international and we’re hard at it. We are ready to spread the beauty of Indian embroidery, all over the world.

What all challenges did you face and what were your strategies to them?
"I am an obsessive compulsive designer with a hyperactive imagination" Each day has been a challenge, from designing each piece individually, dealing with various embroidery expertise to unrealistic deadlines. But we are sailing the journey of 'Fabulously Desi' smoothly, with a smile because we believe Challenges are invitation cards for opportunities!

What are your views on the thought, that as compared to male counterparts, it’s harder and more struggling for females to make a mark?
Sure is. In a bias country like India, each day is a struggle for women. Be it education, career, dignity, freedom, laws etc. Everything is co-related & thus, makes an impact on each genre of women's life. But women entrepreneurs are increasing by the day & I'm glad our country is growing.

What piece of advice would you like to give to the aspiring youth who wish to pursue their dream of becoming an entrepreneur?
Believe in your dreams and work towards them with passion and sincerity. Everything can be achieved with hard work. Complete focus is a must and you'll do wonders!

According to you, what are the top three essential skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur? FOCUS... STRATEGIZE... CONNECT   How do you manage the work-life balance?
My parents and my husband have been very supportive during this journey. They not only bring out the best in me but also make things so much easier. It’s only because of them I can have the best of both the worlds.

What are your views and opinions towards the ambiguous need to promote women entrepreneurship and women empowerment in India?
One must promote women entrepreneurship because it represents a vast untapped source of innovation, job creation and economic growth in the developing world. About Women empowerment, women now cannot be asked to wait for any more for equality. We must treat each one equal & kindly.
